I chose HOTEL ROYAL this year, too. (Caution: Now,
this hotel doesn't permit a ham radio.).
Then, as for my operation it from this hotel, this time is an end. As for this hotel, ham radio became prohibition from 2008 after remodeling constructed it. Then, the performance test of IC-7000 purchased newly could be done from Macau. |
| I prepared IC-7000 + AT-130 and G5RV this time. Though it is so every year, the result which can get satisfaction for me can't get Macau service. Conditions were severe this year though this was decided by luck every year, too. Though 3,000 QSOs are at least exaggerated as for my satisfaction, my try from Macau doesn't reach 1,500 QSOs every time. Hahaha... But, the moment on the air was started, G5RV which I brought this time could realize that it was the antenna which my desire could fill. Then, length of stay is long this time, too. I believed that it got over 3,000 QSOs securely. Then, still a trouble happened. Hahaha... I suffered from the trouble which couldn't be predicted this year. That is the approach of the giant typhoon to Macau. All the ships of Hong Kong - Macao became cancellation, and wind increased strength very much. I had to remove the antenna all that it was built by using the roof tower where it was brought by the indication of the hotel. It was only the 5 stations ON 20m-SSB that QSOs did by the antenna setup which made it summarize my idea. Hahaha... QRT was done during big pile up immediately, and I had to remove an antenna. Anyway, all work ended in waste because it was said that was removed to the coaxial cable. I spent two days when a typhoon passed from Macau uselessly. Then, when it was judged that no problem, it became silent in the hotel, and an antenna was built temporarily again. Wind was still left. If I confirm it in the hotel, only the answer of "No!" may have been able to get it. The antenna temporary construction of the re-occasion gave up the use of the roof tower for time shortening. And, if the possibility that it was indicated had to think about an antenna removal from the hotel again, too.  The G5RV built again. That is poor, and it can't get height because a roof tower isn't being used. When it is this setup, South America direction is perfection blocked by the building. QRV was tentatively possible though the operation time when it was scheduled became half and the setup of the antenna wasn't good, either. Then, after my operation was done, the remodeling construction of the hotel began, and all hope after that was lost. It can stop keeping doing my Macao operation after that all the time. |
